Silk Flower Arrangements: How to Prep Silk Flowers for your Flower Arrangements

Hydrangea Flower ArrangementsSilk flower arrangements can be just as lovely as flower arrangements made with real flowers. Of course, fresh flowers do have its special appeal. Nothing can compare to the nice aroma of real flowers. But for practical reasons, more and more people are choosing to go with silk flower arrangements.

When you have realistic looking silk flowers, you can create floral arrangements that you can enjoy for a longer period of time. Silk flowers are more durable. They don't wilt like real flowers do. They won't need watering. They can be placed under light or in shade and can be kept whether the weather is warm or freezing.

When using silk flowers for your flower arrangements, there are a few things you need to consider. First, you want your silk flower arrangements to look as realistic as possible, so you need silk flowers that look as realistic as possible. Choose silk flowers that are made well. Next, you want your artificial flowers to be perfect for your flower arrangements so you may need to cut or color or alter your flowers in some way to fit your requirements. Lastly, these flowers will need some sort of maintenance to in order to keep them looking like new and looking like real flowers.

After selecting the flowers that you need for your floral arrangement, let them go through a bit of preparation. Here's what we recommend:

1. The silk flowers may have accumulated some dust in the shop. To clear the dust, use an aerosol spray specifically for silk flowers. If you don't have an aerosol spray, you can also use good old soap and water. Put warm soapy water in a large enough basic. Dip the flowers and slosh them around a bit to remove the dust. Air dry or tap dry with a clean cloth.

2. Silk flowers usually come with really long stems. Cut the stems to the desired length. Leaves are also often removed.

3. Wrap the stems with green flower tape. This will make it easier to hold the flower in place for your flower arrangement.

With these three steps, you are now ready to use the silk flowers in your floral arrangements. Now, over time, your silk flower arrangements may gather dust, so dust it off regularly or invest in an aerosol spray for regular maintenance. Doing so will help your silk flowers stay clean and retain their lovely colors for longer.
